Summertime Skin Care Routine

It is summer--I am so glad I can finally say in Ohio that the sun has decided to shine. And with that little change, it means I need to change up my skin care routine. Out with the heavy lotions and potions and in with the light refreshing moisturizers, sunscreens, and serums.

Of course, I am going to throw you for a loop and first tell you of the one thing I NEVER change, and that is my facial cleanser. I have not always had the best skin (it still can be iffy ha!), but the one product I find works for my acne prone skin is by BioElements. Their Flash Foam Cleanser is so gentle, but has slight exfoliation to help keep skin smooth and acne free.

Next up, my new favorite serum! I told you all about Radical Skincare in this post HERE and I promised to try more of their products and let you all in on my thoughts. Well, this serum does not disappoint! It is light and airy (perfect for summer months), yet it kept my skin hydrated and glowing! I give it an A--only missing the A+ because it is a little on the pricey side, but I am getting older and more wrinkly by the day ha! So spending the extra on quality is becoming more and more important to me. There products are easy to find either online at Radical Skincare or online at Sephora.

Lastly, I always finish my summer routine with this little hidden gem. It is St. Ives Timeless Skin Collagen Elastin Facial Moisturize and it is a miracle worker. I swear my skin is so prone to dryness (which then actually causes it to produce more unwanted grease, but that is a cosmetology lesson for a different day) and this moisturizer takes care of that problem in a snap. It doesn't clog my pores, it has helped with scaly skin, and gets my greasiness under control. The best part--it is around SIX DOLLARS!! Come on now--you can't beat that :) It can be found at drugstores near you.

My last tip is try and only wash your face at night. In the morning splashing it with water and then moisturizing will really suffice and keep your skin supple and clear. Obviously this can't always be the case if you work out that day or whatever the case may be. But, I tried this concept, and for me, it seriously made a world of difference in my skin!

  3. That St. Ives stuff sounds pretty good! At my age I need anything with collagen and elastin... I can't afford Botox!!! LOL! I'm going to have to look into that Radical stuff too! Ugh sometimes I wish I still lived in Ohio. My skin and hair were SO much better there. They did not react well to the FL humidity and sun!

  8. Ha - I find it hard to believe you're wrinkly. ;) But I do the same thing - I try to only wash at night. For me, it's because my skin is so dry and washing it seems to dry it even more!

  11. That's really cool that a foaming cleanser can be exfoliating! For a long time I decided my skin was just going to be bad no matter what I tried to use, so I didn't really try anything new. I'm starting to get hopeful again and try new things. I had never heard of that cleanser, but it sounds really good!

I love the St. Ives moisturizer! I wasn't really sure if I liked it at first, because it was not moisturizing enough in the winter in Utah for me. Funny side story, my hubby thought it was hand cream in the winter and he really liked it :)

I found you through the Makeup Monday link up.
