Akron Marathon 2013

If you would have asked me last year if I would be participating in any type of a marathon, I would have told you you were cray, cray!

This year though, I did it! With a lot of help and encouragement from my team, we did the Akron Marathon Relay on Saturday. I am by no means a runner. I do it for exercise occasionally when I have eaten one too many blueberry scones (See here ha!), but other than that it's just not something I have ever put much time into since my college days.

Last year though, my co-workers and I, decided to do the marathon as a relay. I did the anchor leg that was 5.5 miles. Now I know for some of you serious runner this probably seems like a jog in the park, but for a former smoker and exercise avoider, this was quite a feat! I did a better pace than I expected, I finished, and I had a blast! I could not be more proud of myself and my teammates as we kicked some butttt!!

....even beating my hubby's relay team!! OwOw!!

{All done, we even got medals!}

{My teammate Sarah's hubby made us these T-shirts with our Team Name}

{Getting ready to hand off and start/Allll finished and so happy about it}

The pants I wore to match our customized T-shirts were from American Eagle. Two words: In Love. Their new athletic wear line is spectacular. It is super affordable and so cute! They have some really fun, girly styles that would make me want to work out just for a chance to wear them. I will
 be going back to buy more!

So thank to my teammates and all the employees from my company who participated!! It was a blast and I couldn't/wouldn't have done it without you all!!

Thrifty in Yellow

I am on a budget! Like most 20 somethings these days, times can be tight! I love clothes and I will be honest (mainly because my husband reads this and will call me out if I am not), a big chunk of my budget is hanging in my closet.

I LOVE CLOTHES!

Ok the secret is out...we can move on.

So in this budget conscious world I love when I can snag a deal! Especially one at a consignment shop. I got this shirt foreva-a-go! It is one of my favorites though because it flows and is easy to wear on a weekend filled with errands and transitions straight to lunch with friends.

I spiced this top up a little by putting a brooch in the front where it ties. It adds a little bling and fun!

I think this shirt might have cost me a whole 5 dollars! Gasp, I know some of you may be weirded out by wearing used clothes...but not me!! You know what they say..."If the shirt fits...wear it"! OK, so maybe the word is shoe, but in this instance just pretend with me its shirt :)

{Shirt: Thrifted} {Jeans:American Eagle
{Shoes: Old, Michael Kors Flats}
{Brooch:old hair bow from The Icing}

What are your thoughts on consignment shops? Yay/Nay??

I like them a lot! I will admit they can be hit or miss and you usually spend extra time digging through piles to find a gem, but for the prices you can't beat it!

Enjoy your Thursday, one more day until the weekend!

(not that I am counting) :)

Wow! What an amazing weekend! We had the pleasure of celebrating my hubby's 30th Birthday!

I am married to an old man :) A very good looking old man!

We had all his family and friends over to my parents house and celebrated with food, booze, and laughter all night.

We are so blessed with the people in our lives! Special shout-out to my mother who did allllll the cooking :) Everyone was very thankful I let her handle that!

Here are a few pics from the party!

Leopard Part Two: All about the Shoe

Keeping with the trend of the week...Leopard!! However, if you couldn't tell by what is a very mysterious title (ok, maybe not), today is all about the SHOES! When choosing really wild shoes I like to go totally monochromatic with my other clothing. I think it makes the shoes pop. These shoes are one of my favs because they are not only in one of the best prints ever, but are super comfy. I don't know if you all are like me, but I have 3 types of shoes in my closet.

1. Everyday shoes- these can be worn, again just like the label says, EVERYDAY! Always the most practical option.

2. Sitting down most of the day shoes- where you will only be up from your desk to get coffee, run to the copy machine, or to the break room for some water cooler gossip.

3. Car to Dinner shoes- These happen to be my favorite, buttt least practical. These are only worn out for a on the town for a night where the only walking I will be doing is from the car to sit down at a restaurant table and eat dinner. (sometimes these shoes must even be taken off during dinner, just make sure the table clothe covers it!)

Shoes: Charlotte Russe (old) Similar Pants: Limited  Jacket: Dillards (old) Leather Option!

These shoes are so fun to wear. The are a #2 shoe and I love wearing them in the office. Except the guys I work with don't reallllyyy get fashion and they like to call me too-tall-tori! They are lucky I can take a joke, because in these shoes I feel like I could kick some major butt! :)

Also had some trouble with people being able to leave comments so loaded a new option! Hopefully this will work better so I able to interact with all of you out there :) I love hearing from you!

Until next time!

Coral, Leopard, and Leather

Some people say that it is very possible to wear TOO many trends at one time. However, one thing I have never been accused of is being understated ha! Although I can totally appreciate the classic feel of simple beauty, it has never quite worked for me. I love throwing on as many of my favs as possible and trying to make it work. Motto: Overdressed > Underdressed. I can totally picture my mother rolling her eyes right now in disagreement...love you mom!

In this outfit I am wearing my three favorite trends of the moment (I mean if you guys are going to force me to choose only three!). I love coral accents with EVERYTHING. I feel like this is a color that you just can't go wrong with. I even have about 5 shades of coral lipstick!

Leopard and Leather are both being seen everywhere this year. I have always loved leopard/animal print anything. I love that you can pair it with almost any solid color for a fun, out-the-door look! However, I had a hard time at first styling this skirt. It is a little bit of an in-between length and a more edgy feel to it, but after taking some inpiration from some other great blogger out there, I know have a million more ways I want to try it! All stores carrying these two trends beware, I am on the hunt and I want MORE!

Skirt: Limited (old) Similar Shirt: Francesca's (sold out) Cute Option! Watch: Michael Kors Similar
Boots: So Old!! Wish List! (hint hint hubby) Sunglasses: Aldo

What are some trends you are loving right now?!
Can you ever be wearing enough?

Owl Candles and Sunday Editing

It is Sunday.
I hope everyone is getting to enjoy some down time and relaxation with family and friends. Today I was lucky enough to go to church and out to lunch with my whole family. The rest of the day will be spent lounging around with the pups and hubs. I am working on some editing and will have a lot of new post this week. Today I just wanted to leave you with a picture of my new "Owl Candle Holder"  from Bath & Body Works. I am a tiny bit obsessed  I love sitting at my desk, working on my blog, and answering e-mails, all to the flicker of a fall scented candle!

How is your favorite way to spend a Sunday??

Thanks all for reading!

Stiletto Nails?!

Stiletto nails have been a trend that has been rocked by celebrities for awhile now. I won't lie, I have not always been a fan...and by that I mean I may have even called them downright ugly. However, this girl right here, had a little change of heart and had to try them for herself to decide. I gotta to say as much as it semi-pains me to admit my wrong, I Love THEM! They have to be done right though and it actually took me having them done a few times before I was happy with the outcome.

What are your thoughts? Love em or Hate em?? Leave a comment and let me know!

I hope this is a trend that sticks around :)

Necklace: GroopDealz Tank: Limited Sweater: Limited
Both Tops are on sale!!!

I wore this outfit to work today. I have on white pants (not picture for reasons about to be told) and I dropped a blueberry right on them and then sat on it! Needless to say a nice purple stain came to be. I would love to say I was getting my 5-7 servings of fruit in, but alas no, it was from a blueberry scone...sigh...totally worth it :)

Monogram Obbsession

OK I have a confession...My name is Tori and I am a Monogram Addict.

I love everything with the letter T or M. Which of course are my initials. I have put monograms all over my house and they are now invading my wardrobe...and you know what?? I am not even a little bit sorry about it :) I love them! These necklace and earring monogram "M" are from NY&Co. and I am in love. They were a steal on sale as well which is just an added incentive to buy them!

Necklace:NY&Co Earrings:NY&Co Jeans:American Eagle (old) Similar
Booties: Thrifedt!! Must Have Shirt: Express (old) Love

I wore this outfit to one of my husbands first Fall Ball games. It was the most beautiful night and my momma went with me to watch. This outfit was the perfect combo because it is low key so i didn't feel overdressed, yet I pulled out some of my favorite booties to get into the fall spirit!

What is the item of clothing you are most excited to wear this fall??

Mine is Boots, always Boots!

Date Night on the Lake

My hubby is named Brent. Him and I work completely opposite schedules! So when we do get some time off together we try to enjoy it as much as possible! Now i also forgot to mention, we are COMPLETE opposites! His dream date night and my dream date night could not look more different. So our date nights usually consist of a lot of compromise :). Somehow we make it work and last night was a perfect example and made for a perfect night!

We decided to go grab dinner at a restaurant called The Harbor. It is on a lake by our home. It was the most fabulous night to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine and weather! He loves the water and I love to eat...OK and I love the water as well! This was a night both of us enjoyed and we topped it off with some bowling with friends (which is much more his area of expertise), but I am very good at sitting there and chatting with the girls...umm I mean cheering him on! :)

Shirt:NY&Co. (Sale!) Jeans:American Eagle Necklace: NY&Co. (old) LOVE this!
Shoes: Gianni Bini (old) Similar Bracelets:  GroopDealz

These shoes are one of my favorite purchases!! Since they look nautical to me I thought they would be great for our night at the lake! I bought them on sale last season...a size too big, but I was not about to let a little thing like size get in the way of my perfect pair of shoes! I mean come on who agrees with me??

The rest of the weekend will be spent in piles of laundry, the DVR, and of course Notre Dame football (Brent's choice) ha! The older I get the better these kind of weekends sound! So on that note, GO ND, BEAT MICHIGAN!!
