Dream Chasers: 11 Twenty Eight Designs + Giveaway!

Last month, I introduced a new series called Dream Chasers! It is a series featuring small businesses. Today, I am so excited to bring you 11 Twenty Eight Designs. Mary is an amazing jewelry designer who hails from my state of Ohio!! This girls' gems are phenomenal, high-quality and have a super boho edge.

1. Tell me about your business and why you choose to get into this field of work?

  • My jewelry business, 11 Twenty Eight Designs, started after I ordered a few quartz druzy gemstones with the intention to make a few necklaces for myself. Shocked at how well they turned out, I was eager to try and sell my creations on Etsy; two of my first pieces sold in a matter of hours! I have always loved reading and researching about the latest fashion trends and styles. I aspire to someday open up my own boutique store!
2. Is this your full time job or do you have 9-5?
  • I am also a licensed Real Estate Agent. Because I can make my own schedule, I make time for both my jewelry business and real estate business!
3.What is the most rewarding part of owning your own business?
  • Having fun and enjoying what I do! I can sit down and make jewelry for hours and it will only feel like a few minutes have gone by.
4. What are some challenges you have faced?
  • Marketing my jewelry line has been tough! My Etsy shop has an Instagram account as well as a Facebook page and thinking of new and fresh ideas to retain my current customers and attract new ones is more challenging than I thought.
5. What advice would you give someone looking to start their own business?
  • Persistence and a positive attitude! Don’t give up. Plan for the future and most importantly have fun!
6. What is your favorite item in your shop?
  • My favorite is The Arya Collection of large Tibetan mosaic horn pendant necklaces which are sure to be the perfect accessory for fall!

Mary has also been so kind as to provide a fun GIVEAWAY! :) Make sure you enter below for a chance to win a $25 Gift Card to purchase one of her fabulous pieces!!

Now you’re in New York

As most of you know--I got to take an amazing weekend girls trip to NYC over Labor Day weekend. I literally had such a ball and fell in love with the city that never sleeps--although Tuesday morning at work I did wish I had gotten some more z's.

Here's the recap:

We stayed in Chelsea and had to see our rooftop terrace as soon as we got there--it was breathtaking!! You had a clear view of the Empire State Building.

Seriously, these are almost too cute to eat--almost! I am pretty sure I ate more food this weekend than a normal person needs in a month #illruntomorrow #ornot

The first night we went and saw Momma Mia on Broadway and it totally blew me away!! Plus, the show was full of sequins and sparkles--so you know I was in heaven!

O and can we talk about how there were no free refills on Diet Coke--like anywhere?! I learned this after I paid $8 dollars because I had two :)

I totally left my heart in NYC when I fell in LOVE with this little fella--can we talk about cuteness overload?!

Thank God I went with my friend Jillian who can navigate the subway--or else I might still be down there trying to find my way around :)

We ended the trip with a round of Mexican and Margs--and then slept quite soundly the whole way home!

I seriously cannot wait to go back--and when I do I promise to be a better fashion blogger and actually get outfit pics and take a quality camera (sorry IPhone-you ain't cuttin' it) But, this time, I was having way to much fun!!

Your going to laugh at the most favorite part of my trip--I scored a Zara blanket scarf! Ahh I was so excited when I saw it--I grabbed it and held on like my life depended on it. It was a serious situation, the last one in the store--you feel me?!

Hope you all had a great week and thank you so much for all your amazing comments about me making it a year in blogging (who woulda thought?!) Yay!
oxox,
