Celeb Style under $50

Totally am loving this laid-back causal look from Miss Selena. I think taking leather into the summer months is genius and she is spot on with the fab bohemian braid. What none of us like is the celebrity price tag. Am I right?! So, I am showing you below how you can score her look for less. And of course, I had to put my own spin on it with the gold sparkly oxfords--DYING!!

Would you rock leather in the summer?!
Hope you all had a great Memorial Day and got to honor those who have served and died for this country!

Insta Life Lately

Life has been busy, but fabulous lately :) I have had less time than normal--but when the time is filled with friends and family, fun and laughter--it is all worth it! I will always wish for more hours in the day, but I am trying to take the time to enjoy all the ones I am given.

 I got to go to Paint and Swirl--here is the picture reveal :) Had such a blast and am actually really please how it turned out (for the girl who can't draw stick figures).

I LOVED spending time outside playing with my nieces for my father-in-laws 60th Birthday.

My Mom's Birthday Dinner at Nuevo :)

#TBT -- me and the sis have been sassy fashionista's from the beginning ha!

Tried out a white Mani for the first time--I didn't hate it!

Jumpin' Jumpin'

{Jumpsuit: Marshall's} {Shoes: Charlotte Russe} {Sunnies: F21 Identical}
{Bracelet: Express} {Earrings: Edith Marie Similar

I don't know why, but when I am wearing a jumpsuit the Destiny's Child song Jumpin' Jumpin' always gets stuck in my head ha! Hence the title of this post :) However, when I wore this to a 30th Birthday Party the other day, I was told I looked like Whitney Houston in the 80's--and I ain't mad about it. That woman had fab style in the 80's--am I right?!

I found this jumpsuit at Marshall's and fell in love. I am 5'8" and let me tell you--it can be so hard for a tall girl to find a jumpsuit that fits! First, being that it is long enough in the legs. Second, making sure it is long enough in the torso or else you have a very unsightly problem (if you know what I mean ha!). This one is fabulous though and I paired it with a belt to help break up the look and give it some shape.

So I am enlisting all the other tall girls out there for some help! Where have you been able to find jumpsuits and/or rompers that fit you well?!

Make sure you all come back Friday to hear about my Paint and Swirl Night--which hint hint--it was a blast!!

Sweet Summertime

{Tee: NY&Co. Similar} {Jeans: American Eagle} {Sandals:Express}
{Scarf: Charlotte Russe Similar}{Headband: Body Central Splurge}

Hey Y'all!! It is Monday and you know what--I am kind of excited about it! Trust me, I never thought I would say that ha! But, I get to go to a event called Paint and Swirl at a local Wine Bar by our house tonight. You pretty much drink wine and they teach you to paint a picture on canvas! I am no artist and haven't painted since grade school--but I am pumped for it. I mean there will be Sangria and girl time--so what could be better?! I will def. share my picture with you all later this week :)

This outfit I am wearing is literally my cookout uniform! I LOVE going to bonfires and cookouts when the summer hits--hanging outside just gossiping, laughing, and drinking a beer or two. Nights like that I love being comfy and cute--jeans, a tee, and a fun scarf make the perfect outfit. I wear a million different versions of this same outfit all summer :)

What is your favorite go to summer look?!

Power Up

Happy Friday!!
I know this is NOT a cooking blog and honestly--I cook about once a month. However, I really am trying to eat clean--as much as possible. Since I have been doing so, I have had more energy, less tension headache, and an extra plus of losing a couple of stubborn pounds from when I quit smoking. In order to sustain this now though I need to get more creative and try some recipes--salmon and veggies is getting old. So last night I made my first attempt at a "Power Muffin". It contains Greek Yogurt, Blueberries, and Oats--all amazing foods for your health. Plus this muffin has some protein to it, so that is a great start in the morning! I can't take credit for the recipe--you can find all the instructions HERE.

{O and these two little helpers are the BEST}

They turned out amazing--so yummy with my morning coffee and a piece of fruit :) I did switch the sugar for Truvia and used plain greek yogurt instead of honey flavored, but it turned out well!

Now I need suggestions from all of you! If you have any good and semi-easy recipes for me to try to continue on my healthy eating path, I would LOVE it :)

Have a fabulous weekend

Summer Neons

{Shorts: F21} {Shirt: Express} {Sunnies: F21}
{Earrings: Express LOVE} {Scarf: c/o FRAAS}

Yes--that is me...in shorts...in Ohio! Yay the weather finally is warmed up, but unfortunately my white legs haven't got the tanning memo. I apologize if they blinded you :)

I am such a summer girl--my birthday is in August, so I blame it on that. It can never be too hot for me and I adore running around in sundresses or shorts. These shorts were an awesome find at F21! I struggle with shorts sometimes because I am so tall--booty hanging out the bottom is not cute ladies ha! But these are great--I just went a size up for a little extra length and they fit perfect! Plus, who doesn't love acid wash jeans?! (well, besides my hubby ha he hates them)

I was also so lucky to receive this gorgeous scarf from FRAAS. They are such an amazing company with gorgeous pieces ranging in price for all budgets--like this one for $32. I love how trendy they are--I mean neon AND polka dots--totally adorable :) They are high quality and come in different fabrics. You can find them in department and specialty stores. online, or on Amazon.com. Plus, you can also call to order them directly at  212-575-0191. Which ones are your favorite?!

I am still in recovery mode. It was my Momma's birthday yesterday, so we all went out for Mexican and Margarita's. Have I ever mentioned my love of margs?--o a million times you say? Well these did not disappoint--for those of you in the Ohio area make sure you try out Nuevo's in Akron I was super impressed, not only with the margs, but with the super fresh food!
Happy Wednesday

You must not want it Enough

If you have ever had a dream or goal...

Then I am sure you have heard it said before--"You must not want it enough, because if you did then you would (fill in the blank). That fill in the blank could be anything from give up time with friends, work more hours, eat less food, study more often, whatever it may be, in order to reach your goal.

I feel like this can be such a dangerous way of thinking. I mean are you really willing to sacrifice whatever it takes to make your dreams come true? And after you achieve them, will you look back and still think it was worth it?

Your answer to those questions may be different than mine, but for me the answer is a resounding NO. There are things in my life too important to me to give up for "success". I put success in quotations, because what is the point of reaching the top if it costs you everything to get there. I am not willing to lose my friends and family, sanity and stress level, vacation and fun, or Jesus time all for the sake of a job/blog/perfect body/house/car or whatever it may be.

I think our society has it's priorities all wrong. I want my main focus to be to love God, love others, and love myself. I want to be kind to myself--even when I might not meet my own expectations. Perfection is unattainable (I know I talk about this topic a lot), so give yourself a break.

I once heard that you would never tell a 5 year old version of yourself that she is ugly or not good enough, that she doesn't have what it takes. So why in the heck are you letting those lies impede your thoughts about your current self? Be kind to yourself, let things slide sometimes, and learn to be in the moment.

And just as important--loving the ones around you. Take the time to stop at a sick friends house with soup--even if you have a million things on your plate. Send a simple text just to let someone know you are thinking and praying for them. When you have a blog post to write and your hubby (who works like 80 hrs a week) has down time and wants to cuddle in front of the t.v.--do it! (OK, that advice may have been directed at myself ha!)

{Via}

Forget the lie that you must not want it enough. I am all for putting your heart into a goal, but also give yourself a break! If you are doing your best, that is really all that matter (an oldie, but goodie). Sometimes, you can want something with all your heart and it is still OK not to sacrifice something else in order to obtain it. It doesn't mean that it is less important or your somehow a failure. It just means that maybe you have to find a more creative way to carve out time to blog, or working out, or cooking dinners for your family. BALANCE is the key. I truly believe God has a plan for everyone and we can stop striving so hard to make things happen, because God is in control. If it is His will for it to happen, it will--without any help from us :) So drop control, guilt, and stress, and go out and have a fabulous weekend doing whatever feeds your soul!

Thanks for listening to my ramblings :)

Pittsburgh Marathon Recap

Hey all!
First off, THANK YOU all so much for all your support leading up to the Pittsburgh Marathon :) Even though I just ran 5 miles in the relay--for this former smoker, running hater, couch potato--it was quite an accomplishment! And although I have NO desire to ever run the whole thing, it was very inspiring to see all the runners coming across the finish line reaching their goals :)

So here is how the weekend went.

First we got there and our hotel was surrounded by the BEST shopping ever!

Then we went to Dave and Busters that night and stayed out way too late having fun and playing games.
After a very SHORT night of sleep, it was time to race.
This is totally what I was picturing while running...

And I totally feel like this perfectly describes me...

BUT, in reality...

I had such a blast and finished with under 10 minute miles--which I was not expecting! It was a great experience and I was so glad that Monday was Cinco de Mayo, because after that race I felt like this...

Me and the hubs basking in marathon glory--aka Happy we are still alive ha!

Thank you so much for stopping by :) I have some exciting outfit posts coming up and a really fun giveaway--so stay tuned!

Hello Moto

{Sweater: H&M Almost the Same} {Jeans: Old Navy} {Vest: Express Spring Version}
{Shoes: Charlotte Russe}

Yay! We all made it to Friday--can we all give ourselves a pat on the back?! Whew it has been quite a week-- full of running and yoga, lots of work, blogging, socializing, and a little bit of good reality TV watching. All in all it was a great week, but I am kind of outta words. This does not happen often--so enjoy it while it last! (that means you hubby ha!)

I plan finishing work today and kicking back with a glass of wine, movie, and the hubs. Then it is off to Pittsburgh in the morning for the marathon--wish me luck!

O and ps. I cannot get enough of this moto jacket from Express--love it worn like this with a sweater and look for it in a future post paired with a girly dress! They have a fabulous lighter fabric spring version--highly recommend!
Have a fabulous weekend
