What your breakouts are telling you?

{Guest Post by Cristina Nika Kask. I am so thrilled to feature Nika again--she posted on Monday about wearing heels during pregnancy and today she is sharing all about keeping your skin healthy! (I am totally going to need this after baking mine in the sun all week!) If you want to see more of her fabulous insight, make sure you visit High Style Life, where she is a regular contributor}

What your breakouts are telling you?

Each one of us is unique in their own way, and that is beautiful. However, no matter how unique you feel there are things about our bodies and faces that are all the same for everyone. These are the signals letting us know what’s going on on the inside, how we are dealing with certain changes, ways we are reacting to particular situations, etc.

Breakouts are just one of the smart signals your body is sending you, urging you to change whatever it is that’s causing the blemishes.

Through face-mapping, Eastern tradition has given us a wonderful insight into our breakout troubles! Face mapping is the idea that there’s a correlation between different zones of your face and your internal organs. This tradition combines modern dermatology with ancient Chinese medicine and it’s probably the most interesting and accurate thing you’ll learn about your face.

Anyhow, this is the face map that will help you figure out what’s wrong and attack the problem that initially caused the acne/blemishes/redness/irritation.

Forehead

We usually say breakouts on our forehead are caused by a lot of sweating and bangs, which can be ture. However, the deeper reason for breakouts across the forehead is usually triggered by stress, digestive problems or sleep deprivation.

To have your forehead clear of any spots, make sure you sleep at least 8 hours. Your beauty rest must become a priority!

Above the brow
Our immune system is directly affecting the area above the brow. Right before, after, or during a cold or flu, expect for breakouts to happen in this area.

If you notice a breakout in this zone, slow down for a couple days. Take a lot of vitamins, drink plenty of water  and eat immune boosting foods.

Between brows

The old saying goes “whenever there is a pimple between your brows, someone secretly loves you”. Who knows if that’s true! What we know though is that a breakout here is indicative of you overindulging lately. A lot of unhealthy foods, drinks or a food allergy are directly responsible for your between-brows-pimple. Cutting back on rich foods, sugar, dairy, and alcohol can help clear up skin in this zone.

Cheeks

Your cheeks are linked to your respiratory system which is why having breakouts on your cheeks if you are a smoker is no surprise. Smoking or breathing polluted air can cause breakouts, irritation and redness. So try to stay clear of spaces with a lot of smoke.

Side of chin

You know when you are in THAT time of the month how you always get a few blemishes on the chin? Well, here’s why - the sides of your chin are affected by hormones. Breakouts happen on one side or another depending on which ovary is ovulating that month.

To try and prevent breakouts from ruining your gorgeous face, we’d suggest choosing cosmetics that agrees with your skin type and feels good. Osmosis skin care is probably the best solution for everyone whose skin is prone to irritation because it helps deal with all the unpleasant moments on the skin.

Don’t you find it amazing that by just “reading” your face you can determine what’s wrong with your health and which segment of your life needs improving? I think it’s absolutely stunning!

Blushing Belle

{Guest Post By Tara Belle of Northern Lights-Southern Belles. I was thrilled when Tara agreed to write a post for me while I was in Myrtle. As soon as I read her blog, I wanted her to be my friend (is that creepy?? ha!) This girl has so much style, its redic! And, her sense of humor keeps me reading and laughing with her daily! P.s. Can you believe she just had her third little one?! Make sure you get your tushies over to her blog.}

good morning babes!!
sorry to disappoint, but Tori is on vacay, so you're stuck with me for today.  I am Tara Belle and I blog over at NorthernLights-SouthernBelles.  don't let the name fool you now, I am an uber-sarcastic, loud-mouth yank living in the supremely southern city of Charleston, SC.  the blonde hair helps me blend in, but this belle is no cotillion candidate.  I do live this pretty city of mine and the inspiration tends to ooze over into my style from time to time.  todays look is a bit more feminine than the norm, but when I do do pretty, it tends to be in the form of blush tones.  this blouse needs no introduction and definitely doesn't need much styling, so I kept it pretty simple with a great fitting pair of light wash skinnies (a must have for spring) and these nude sandals; both of which are very much on the cheap side because this momma is always on a tight budget!  I added a slight pop of contrast with this metallic blue bag and layered on the jewels, which is always my favorite part!!  ain't no party like a bangle party, am I right??  it may be a little much, but I love a good arm full of charms and Alex & Ani is a bit of a guilty pleasure.  Thanks so much for having me ladies!!  I hope you have a fabulous day and swing by sometime!!

She Said:
Hi Everyone! I am so excited to guest post on Tori's blog while she enjoys a wonderful vacation. Cannot wait to see photos when you return. This is Chelsea from She Said He Said - Fashion Blog. I share daily outfits with my fiance's honest point of view because every girl wants to hear what her man REALLY thinks of her fashion choices.

Did you all have a good Memorial Day weekend? I wanted to dress up in this sassy spring green lace dress. I love the loose fit and lace print detail, I could also add a belt to cinch in the waist. This dress would be perfect for attending a bridal shower for comfort and classy style. I added a pop of print with these leopard heels and accessorized with gold accents. I am a sucker for leopard and think they look fabulous with anything. What do you think about this green lace dress?

He Said:
I actually like this dress, the color is great. I think it looks a little too loose on her but the length works. The purse is too oversized and her leopard heels are just ok. I am not a fan of leopard print anything. Her hair and makeup look great and I would gladly take her on a date night in this look.

Wearing Heels During Pregnancy: Style Yes-Yes Or Complete Madness?

{Guest Post by Cristina Nika Kask. She is a fabulous new blogger, who has some great in-depth insight on fashion, beauty and DIY. I am blown away by her writing, and her talent shines through all of her work. You can find more of her post over at High Style Life, where she is a regular contributor!}

Wearing Heels During Pregnancy:
Style Yes-Yes Or Complete Madness?

Ten to twenty years ago none of us would even consider wearing heels during pregnancy. Why? Because common sense says so. However, given we’ve all become so obsessed with celebrity styles, it somehow became expected we’ll look up to them in terms of the way they dress, act and live.
One of the things celebrities appear to adore is wearing heels during pregnancy. And while this seems like utter madness most of them know how to pull it off.  Unlike Kim Kardashian who was trashed in the paper for wearing heels even all throughout her second and third trimester and spending most of her pregnancy bloated, Kate Middleton, Victoria Beckham, Angelina Jolie, Blake Lively and plenty other celebrities carried it off so graciously.

If you wish to follow the style path of your favorite pregnant celebrity, we are giving you advice how to do just that. However, we’ll first reflect on effects of wearing heels during pregnancy:

Cramps, cramps, cramps!
Your calf muscles are in a contracted position, when you wear heels for a long time. Because of this, your muscles may be aggravated during pregnancy and you’ll be in constant pain. Also, heels in pregnancy lead to stretching of muscles in the feet.

Back pain like no other
With the baby growing inside of you, your back will be hurting immensely as now you are carrying a pretty heavy human being inside of you, and for nine months!
During pregnancy, the ligaments in lower back and legs are loosened. Since the support is not proper while wearing heels, your pelvic and back joints are put under excess pressure which results in aches.
All that swelling
Edema or swelling in legs, ankles and feet is a medical condition which is quite common during pregnancy. The problem will further be aggravated with wearing tight shoes and high heels. You might also experience pain.
Balancing is hard
Due to hormonal changes in the body and excess weight, the strength in your ankles is likely to reduce which is why you will be experiencing a lower balancing capacity. This is why you will be exposed to a higher probability of losing balance and tripping over while wearing heels in pregnancy, causing injury to you and your unborn child.

Tips for wearing high heels in pregnancy
We get that you are stylish, gorgeous and fashion conscious. Heels have always been a part of your style, and that’s sweet. Just remember that heels in pregnancy can lead to serious harm to both you and your unborn baby.
But, if you absolutely must, keep the following tips in mind:
1.      First trimester - This is when you are barely showing and you are still not wearing your maternity denim jeans, but the regular size ones so low heels are okay. However, watch your balance!
2.      Period after first trimester - Hormonal flow increases and your muscles start to stretch. Try to wear sturdier and lower heels.
3.      Avoid - platform heels, stilettos and kitten heels! The thinner the heels, the lesser support your body will get.
4.      All day heel – If you are at an event that requires wearing heels for the whole day, make sure you take short breaks by taking the heels off, massage your feet and then putting them on again.
5.      Standing - Avoid standing or walking for longer durations in high heels. Try to sit around most of the time.

Now that you are aware of all the risks and are given insights into how to wear heels while expecting, we hope you’ll be smart about your choices and careful. Remember – you know don’t need heels to look amazing. Your pregnancy glow is making sure you do, at all times!

Must-Have's for a Beach Babe

This girl, right here, gets to leave for Myrtle Beach on Monday, and I could not be more thrilled!! Work, as I have mentioned a million times, is short staffed and hectic--so this couldn't have come at a better time!!

I plan on drinking margaritas, getting a tan, chowing down on a ton of yummy food, playing mini-golf, and dragging my husband shopping (for as long as he will last ha!).

Anyone have any suggestions of places to eat, see, visit?!

I haven't been there in years, so I would love some recommendations!!

Below are some of my recommendations on things to bring if you too have an upcoming trip :)

I will be having some guest bloggers next week, so be sure to check them out and leave them lots of love!!

Shopping and Saving Puppies--Yes, Please!

I am so excited once again to be attending another event that is benefiting Pawsibilities, The Great Akron Human Society. It is hosted by my girl Lyndsey who owns the boutique b. lovely.

The event is Thursday May 21th from 5:30-8:30 at the Cashmere Cricket in Cuyahoga Falls Ohio--if you live anywhere near it, you HAVE to attend! It is only $10 at the door (100% of that money goes to the puppies!!), and that includes an alcoholic beverage and cupcakes, plus the chance to enter a bunch of raffles, and shop until you drop with b. lovely and some other great vendors!

Bonus, you get to hang out with me, and what is cooler than that?! Ha--OK, only kidding, but I would really love to see some of you there!! And, as extra incentive to come shop all her fun stuff, I am going to share some of my favorite pieces I have picked up from b.lovely.

Weekend Vibes

{Dress: Francesca's} {Shoes: Zara Similar} {Bracelet: J. Crew}
{Necklace: Express Save/Splurge}{Sunnies: Aldo}
*PS. I really wish the colors in this dress came across in photos. The neon pink and navy against the nude background is Ah-mazing!*

Monday, We meet again!

I am OK with it though, because I had such an amazing weekend! I got to celebrate the hard work and dedication my sister has put in the last five years of school, and witness her graduating with her nursing degree!

Plus, it was Mother's Day--and I am so blessed that my mom is seriously my best friend! She is always in my corner, but not afraid to tell me when I am wrong. She has taught me to be independent, but also to lean on the Lord is all circumstances. And although I didn't pick up all her cooking skills, I always know where I can go to for the best home cooked meal in the world! Love you Mom :)
