Dream Chaser's: Misha's Creations

I literally get so excited for this series and the chance to show off some amazing small business--I couldn't even wait until next month for this one! So you are getting a double dose in September as you get to know Misha's Creations.

Misha's Creations is a amazing shop on Etsy-Brittany is the owner and she and I hit it off immediately. She goes above and beyond to make your order perfect and customizes every step of the way. Her passion for small business was evident from my first conversation with her, yet her pieces speak for themselves, they are truly breathtaking!

My pictures don't do them justice at all--so make sure you check out her site and get to know her a lot better by reading below!

{Bracelets: c/o Misha's Creations} {Leather Leggings: Limited on sale!} {Top: Buckle}
{Boots: Gianni Bini} {Sunnies: F21}

1. Tell me about your business and why you choose to get into this field of work?

  • Misha's Creations started as a custom button monogram page. A few years ago, I was looking for idea's on what to make for Christmas presents. I had always been one to make, rather than buy. It means more to someone. It took off immediately and had such a positive response from friends, family, and my community. However, I became so consumed with finishing school and trying to work as a server/bartender, I let my passion go. This past February, my fiancĂ© and I had been relocated to Pensacola, Fl. I had become a full time "house wife," while struggling to find a new job. I remember browsing Instagram one day and seeing many peers with beautiful stone wired "baubles." I couldn't help, but thinking "WOW!" I had wanted some for myself, but once I did the research, I realized I couldn't afford the amount I had wanted. I had decided I would try and make my own, because what girl doesn't want endless amounts of fashion pieces?! So I gathered the materials I thought would be useful and went to creating. It started as bracelets for myself, but once I sent a few pictures to my mom and posted my newest designs on Facebook, I had another positive outcome. I had never expected to sell my pieces, but private message after private message led me in another direction. So here I am reusing Misha's creations to sell custom handmade bracelets!
2. Is this your full time job or do you have 9-5?
  • Unfortunately, this is NOT my full time job. I am still bar-tending and now managing at a very popular chain in Pensacola, fl.
3.What is the most rewarding part of owning your own business?

  • The most rewarding part of owning my own business is creating my own hours, making my own decisions, and being able to adjust pricing and inventory accordingly. Not to mention, I can travel to hand pick my stones.

4. What are some challenges you have faced?

  • A few challenges I have encountered would be the public, the market, and myself. There is a boutique who carries my products and her most common encounter is customers telling her, my products aren't the "original." I am my own brand and never would pose to imitate someone else's hard work. The market for stone wired jewelry is very fierce. There are so many amazing hard workers I get to work amongst. However, it's only motivation to strive to the top! I can also face myself from time to time. I don't realize the long hours I put into my business, on top of my full time. I also happen to doubt my potential as a small business owner. I guess you could say I'm my own worst enemy.
5. What advice would you give someone looking to start their own business?

  • If you're looking to start your own business, go for it! Take your leap of faith, because if tomorrow never comes, you'll regret what you never started. Also, make sure you want your new business enough to work the extra hours to become as successful as you're envisioning.
6. What is your favorite item in your shop?

  • My favorite item? Hmmmm... If I HAD to pick just one item, I would say my newest "Smokey Quartz Druzy" bracelet is my absolute favorite. I love all of my creations, but when I got my little fingers on these gems, I was in absolute awe. It is perfect for the upcoming fall/winter and can be matched with such a diverse color group and stones! Plus, they're only $25 ea.

Make sure you head over and check out Brittany's pieces--they are stunners and show her some love by adding her to your favorites on Etsy. I promise it is one you won't want to forget!

Leather

{Shirt: Joe Fresh} {Skirt: Express This seasons version} {Shoes: Jessica Simpson
{Necklace: Purple Peridot} {Sunnies: Aldo Similar}

Well, Hello Friday--I thought we would never make it! Anyone else super ready for 5 p.m.?! Fingers crossed this day goes fast :) I have some sleeping in to do, my hubby's birthday to celebrate, and some puppies to snuggle!

So can we talk about leather?! It is going to be my staple this fall. There are literally a million ways to wear it, it dresses up any outfit, and gives it some edge! I wore it here to work actually because the midi length of the skirt makes it more appropriate.

Leather can be found in shirts, skirts, pants, leggings, jackets, or just in the small details on pieces. So therefore, you can pick whatever level you are comfortable with. Leather can be kind of scary--but I promise, you can rock it and make it work for your personal style!

I hope you all have a great fall weekend and get out there and snag up some fall essentials--the changing leaves are telling me the season is officially here!

Plaid

{Shirt: Old Navy on sale!} {Jeans: Old Navy} {Boots: Thrifted Identical}
{Necklace: old Similar & Bauble Bar Similar} {Purse: Limited}

Fall Essentials week continues here on the blog and today is an oldie but a goodie! Plaid. It's something that seems to be on trend every fall--but this year it has really taken center stage.

There are plaid purses, scarves, pants, and shirts. I LOVE the heavier flannel plaid button ups that a lot of stores are carrying. The one I am wearing is from Old Navy (on sale y'all!) and I am totally going back to buy it in more colors :) Plaid goes great with boots or heels and can totally be dressed up or dressed down.

P.s. I am not sure why I look so pissed in these photos ha! Life has been so busy, but really good. I work at a bank and we are going through a merger this week--which was giving me major anxiety--shocking because I am such a calm person in general (sensing the sarcasm?) But, it has gone sooo smooth--thank you Jesus!

Also, this weekend is Brent's Birthday and he has been working extra hard this month--so I want to come up with something special to do for him. Any idea's?!

Boots

{Boots: Gianni Bini (in store, but not online) Obsessed} {Poncho: Forever 21
{Watch: Michael Kors Similar/Save} {Necklace: Body Central Similar/LOVE}

Well if you all live anywhere in the north eastern US--you are most likely feeling the beginning of fall. Here in Ohio, we went from 90 degrees to the 60's in about 2 days! I don't hate the fall, besides fact that it means winter is coming, but I actually love all the fashions, food, a beautiful sights fall brings.

This week on the blog, it is going to be all about fall essentials. Time to break out those boots, hoodies, sweaters, plaid, leggings, and (if you are my husband) football jerseys :)

Today's outfit is so simple-- a black poncho and a killer pair of black boots. Boots are so worth the investment and every girl needs one GOOD pair. I won't lie--I am the queen of buying cheap boots--but they never last a whole season and look like crap after about two wears. This year, I invested...and yes, my bank account is still not speaking to me, but I am so glad I did.
  • Get a classic pair that will still be in style for years to come
  • Looks for a good material that will last.
  • Get a neutral color
  • And make sure they are comfortable

Then go outside and enjoy the weather, changing leave, and grab yourself a pumpkin spice latte :)

Humpday Confessions: Adulthood is Overrated

No outfit post today--you know why?? Because responsibilities ruins EVERYTHING--OK, OK, maybe I am being a little dramatic (I tend to do that from time to time).  But man, being an adult is hard work!

So I decided to hook up with Kathy for Humpday Confessions :) I always get a kick out of reading everyone posts and I figure now is a good time to jump in and get it all out there!

1. I hate eating healthy and exercising, it really cuts into my social time--like but now if I don't, its all "a moment on the lips, is a lifetime on the hip". All I want is...

2. People actual expect you to know what you want to do with the rest of your life...

3. But now that I am an adult--someones gotta pay the bills...because Mom does not find this cute anymore ha!

4.Grocery Shopping...enough said!

5. I feel young and fun enough to go out on a weeknight--but, then I get a reality check real fast....

6. Luckily, God made family, friends, and wine to get us all through--so in the words of the fabulous Mindy Kaling...

Thanks for letting me vent fashionistas--and I mean being an adult isn't ALL bad :) There is a lot of fun stuff too! Like watching Netflix all Saturday long  while NOT cleaning your room, having friends over whenever you want, and of course, buying alcohol legally (which makes the rest of adulthood a little more tolerable ha!).
