I literally get so excited for this series and the chance to show off some amazing small business--I couldn't even wait until next month for this one! So you are getting a double dose in September as you get to know Misha's Creations.
Misha's Creations is a amazing shop on Etsy-Brittany is the owner and she and I hit it off immediately. She goes above and beyond to make your order perfect and customizes every step of the way. Her passion for small business was evident from my first conversation with her, yet her pieces speak for themselves, they are truly breathtaking!
My pictures don't do them justice at all--so make sure you check out her site and get to know her a lot better by reading below!
{Boots: Gianni Bini} {Sunnies: F21}
- Misha's Creations started as a custom button monogram page. A few years ago, I was looking for idea's on what to make for Christmas presents. I had always been one to make, rather than buy. It means more to someone. It took off immediately and had such a positive response from friends, family, and my community. However, I became so consumed with finishing school and trying to work as a server/bartender, I let my passion go. This past February, my fiancé and I had been relocated to Pensacola, Fl. I had become a full time "house wife," while struggling to find a new job. I remember browsing Instagram one day and seeing many peers with beautiful stone wired "baubles." I couldn't help, but thinking "WOW!" I had wanted some for myself, but once I did the research, I realized I couldn't afford the amount I had wanted. I had decided I would try and make my own, because what girl doesn't want endless amounts of fashion pieces?! So I gathered the materials I thought would be useful and went to creating. It started as bracelets for myself, but once I sent a few pictures to my mom and posted my newest designs on Facebook, I had another positive outcome. I had never expected to sell my pieces, but private message after private message led me in another direction. So here I am reusing Misha's creations to sell custom handmade bracelets!
- Unfortunately, this is NOT my full time job. I am still bar-tending and now managing at a very popular chain in Pensacola, fl.
- The most rewarding part of owning my own business is creating my own hours, making my own decisions, and being able to adjust pricing and inventory accordingly. Not to mention, I can travel to hand pick my stones.
4. What are some challenges you have faced?
- A few challenges I have encountered would be the public, the market, and myself. There is a boutique who carries my products and her most common encounter is customers telling her, my products aren't the "original." I am my own brand and never would pose to imitate someone else's hard work. The market for stone wired jewelry is very fierce. There are so many amazing hard workers I get to work amongst. However, it's only motivation to strive to the top! I can also face myself from time to time. I don't realize the long hours I put into my business, on top of my full time. I also happen to doubt my potential as a small business owner. I guess you could say I'm my own worst enemy.
- If you're looking to start your own business, go for it! Take your leap of faith, because if tomorrow never comes, you'll regret what you never started. Also, make sure you want your new business enough to work the extra hours to become as successful as you're envisioning.
- My favorite item? Hmmmm... If I HAD to pick just one item, I would say my newest "Smokey Quartz Druzy" bracelet is my absolute favorite. I love all of my creations, but when I got my little fingers on these gems, I was in absolute awe. It is perfect for the upcoming fall/winter and can be matched with such a diverse color group and stones! Plus, they're only $25 ea.
{How they can be worn as a set}
Make sure you head over and check out Brittany's pieces--they are stunners and show her some love by adding her to your favorites on Etsy. I promise it is one you won't want to forget!
